Al Buruj Press started the Gateway to Sharia (3 year monthly course in London) last November 2013 with the sole objective to prepare the next thinkers and speakers of tomorrow. The course taught by Shaykh Mohammad Akram Nadwi himself, consists of regular exams and also monthly essay submissions. Students in their 1st year have found this to be one of the most long term beneficial courses available. We will be allowing an option for a video playback where students from anywhere around the world can enrol and participate by having access to the videos of the course. The breakdown of the Sessions are below and students will be focussing on Four Key Areas which are: Aqeeda, Tafsir, Fiqh and Ahadith.
YEAR 2 SYLLABUS: GATEWAY TO SHARIA 12 Lessons in the Year One Lesson per month in London from January 2015 from 10am-6pm
1) AQEEDA (Islamic Thought): 2 Lessons: Session 1 and 2 Critical Analysis of Different Books of Aqeedah and their Methodologies: Analysis between Aqeeda Tahawiyya - Wasatiyya and Nasafiyya
2) TAFSIR (Commentary of the Qur'an): 2 Lessons: Session 3 and 4 Critical Analysis of Different Books of Tafsir and their Methodologies: Analysis between Tafsir Ibn Kathir - Qurtubi - al-Razi- Zamarkhshari - Fi Zilalil Quran (Sayd Qutb) - al-Tabari and al-Kahshaf
3) FIQH (Islamic Jurisprudence): 2 Lessons: Session 5 and 6 Critical Analysis of Different Books of Fiqh and their Methodologies: Nur ul Idah - al-Quduri - al-Hidaaya - Tuhfatul Fuqaha - Bada'i al-Sanai
4) AHADITH (Prophetic Sayings): In the final Six Sessions (7-12) of year 2, Ahadith will be given primary attention and Students will study the following: Critical Analysis of the Different Books of Ahadith and their Methodologies:
Session 7: Introduction to the Methodology and Critical Analysis of Sahih al-Bukhari
Session 8: Introduction to the Methodology and Critical Analysis of Sahih Muslim
Session 9: Introduction to the Methodology and Critical Analysis of Jami' al-Tirmidhi and Sunan Abi Dawud Session 10: Introduction to the Methodology and Critical Analysis of Sunan al-Nasai and Sunan Ibn Majah
Session 11: Introduction to the Methodology and Critical Analysis of other books of Ahadith such as Ibn Hibban, Mishkaat al-Masabih, Musannaf of Ibn Abi Shaybah and Abdur Razzak, Al-Baihaqi, al-Tabarani and al-Daarimi
Session 12: Introduction to the Methodology and Critical Analysis of the Muwatta of Imam Malik alongside it's different compilations such as the versions of Muhammad al-Shaybani, Yahya bin Yahya al-Laythi and Others. Details Concerning Course:
